The Adventures of Cora Pearl

I can barely speak since father died

Oh how I wish he were alive

To hold me in a warm embrace

To touch his skin and kiss his face

Would give me all the peace I need

To guide me forward and succeed

In this world that seems so cold

When you’re just a child of twelve years old

In a world where money rules each heart

My love and dreams cannot be part

Of all that I at twelve hold true

And as I walked through the world I knew

I sought a place to hide away

Where no adults from this world could stray

It was in my words I found my home

And into Grimney I did roam

I took my pen and painting pad

These gifts of art were all I had

So I took soft steps and ventured in

And here in Grimney my dreams begin.
