Post subject:  The Palace of Aquitani - Beneath the Dudrassa Sea
*The Palace of the Aquitani sits at the depths of the Dudrassa sea, it rises high above the other palaces of Serissia, the Capital City. Forests of red and golden seaweed surround its borders and emerald fish swims in shoals between the weeds. At night the diamond fish emerge and shine like stars. The Queen of the Crested wave looks across the Great Hall. Her daughter Onedina is gazing at a portrait of the Queen's youngest granddaughter with sorrow.*

Onedina my dear, a vigil at that portrait will not bring back our girl to us. We must accept she has chosen a human life... for a few years at least.

What am I to do Mother? Forget my own child because she loves a human? Could I be guilty of such hypocrisy... She is my only child, I have not been blessed with fifty daughters like you.

*Onedina shakes her head and swims to the Queen's side*

She chose a human life with Kalvos, not this Kanaran warrior. I am sure she is dreadfully unhappy in this. Carados should never have compelled her to marry against her wishes, I am afraid he is no longer than man that I man my oath to.

*She hangs her head*

Philomena is a Storm Maiden, they have the power of the Great Storm in their spirit and are always hard to control. Perhaps we all should have been firmer with her, but I thought a year's banishment to the Sea of Lost Souls in those formative years would have been warning enough. Now she is in self-imposed exile on land.

*She looks stern*

But she has a duty to her father's land, to marry to strengthen the Grimney throne is an honour. I should hope her training as a princess will enable her to carry out her duty to Carados with the skill that befits a Dudrassa princess. I had never intended to extend our empire on land... but you had different ideas when you wed that human Carados.

*Queen Maera frowns*

I should have forbade it, I knew this would bring nothing but misery. I am glad she has not married Kalvos, love and handsome faces aside, no Princess should marry a base born peasant. Her love for him was a madness and he has proved himself unworthy.

Allow me the honour of going to land and retrieving the Princess. Do not forget you once granted me the privilege of seeking her hand in marriage and I do not believe it was always unwelcome to her. I had the pleasure of her bed more than once... it was only when she went on land that her love for me seemed to diminish.

You would send this pup? The marriage contract between the Princess and myself was signed when she was fourteen years old. Out of courtesy to her youth I did not bed and wed her then.

*Orassian swims up angrily*

You cannot give her to another when she should be my queen. I have a coral crown waiting and it shall only grace her head.

*He glares at Queen Maera.*

You promised me a Storm Maiden for a wife. I was willing to overlook the child's human blood for the honour of your own great blood. If you give her to Prince Sarli it will be an insult to the crown of Orassia. We have served your faithfully for eight centuries, are we to be treated thus?

*Prince Sarli gives a sardonic smile*

The Princess detested the thought of marrying an old seagoat like you so much that she left you at the altar.

*He looks imploringly at the Queen.*

Empress... please let me go. She was mine at three Love Festivals, I have spurned many maids for the sake of her bed. My Princedom may not be as rich as Orassia but I have a hundred isles, she can live as a human as well as a mermaid.

*The Queen snaps and swims to her throne.*

The Princess is a wayward girl, she has cursed herself to love humans and she shall curse herself to live with humans. We shall not interfere.

*She sighs*

When her human husband has passed, then we shall see who her next mate is to be but until then I shall have no debate on this matter.

*The mermen begin circling round one another, their tridents gripped tightly*

Put your tridents down... blood is not to be spilled in this palace or on this matter at all. It is my decision who Philomena marries.
